March Note: Following a now resolved technical issue with data submissions from one health board, the NHS Wales Experimental ED KPI’s have been updated. Where necessary previously reported data for October 2020 to January 2021 has been revised to reflect the change. The impact on the Wales figure for time to triage has been small – no more than 2 minute in any month. The impact on time to clinician has been larger – between 11 and 18 minutes in any month.

The median waiting time is the middle waiting time when all data with valid attendances are ordered from fastest to slowest, so half of all valid waits were completed within this median time. It is commonly used in preference to the mean, as it is less susceptible to extreme values than the mean.
